In modern construction and production calculations, steel plates are an essential intermediate element between the ideal and the real. While laboratory calculation programs do not recognise the silent strength of steel plates, it can be found in the vibrations of cargo ships entering harbour, the consistent flatness of the main engine's base and the integrity of seismic beam joints that form cracks.

Properties of sheet steel materials:

  • Carbon steel (A36, SS400): It offers excellent resistance to piercing and arc welding, providing craftsmen with great flexibility.

  • High-strength alloys (A572 Gr.50, HARDOX): Utilises micro-strength alloy technology. Niobium and vanadium form a nanometre-sized barrier that resists deformation, enabling the sheet to withstand the impact of quarry crushers and bridge girders while reducing its own weight by up to 20%.

  • Stainless steel (304, 316L): A silent war against entropy. Chromium forms a protective oxide layer that heals itself in environments such as food production, chemical processing and seawater, wherever corrosion protection is required.

The main method of converting raw leaves into machined parts is as follows:

  • Cutting: gas, water-jet and laser cutting are all possible options. Laser cutting can cut steel plates up to 40 mm thick, while plasma cutting maintains edge integrity.

  • Bending requires proper calculation of springback, adjustment of press tension and consideration of hidden roughness effects.

  • Welding involves joining two or more pieces of metal using precise techniques.

Steel sheets areas of application:

  • Transport ports: Wear plate coatings are used to protect against wear caused by friction and last longer than ship loaders unloading 10,000 tons of cargo a day.

  • Power plants: Thick reactor supports can withstand thermal cycles of up to 500°C and resist creep-induced deformation.

  • Construction: High-strength steel shear walls contain seismic energy through controlled shear movement, with their thickness being carefully calculated to prevent buckling.

Steel plates are indispensable in production life and are indispensable materials for the composition of modern machinery. Not only does it make a great contribution to construction work, but it can also be processed into a variety of mechanical parts. So a trusted supplier is a very important part of the equation.
