Among industrial pipes, seamless carbon steel pipes are very common and are manufactured in accordance with strict regulations. In the production of seamless steel pipes, carbon steel plates are heated in a rotary furnace in a single heat treatment process. The heat-treated steel plates are then fed into a high-pressure piercing die, which pierces the solid bar and converts it into a thick-walled hollow tube. This initial piercing process is a key step, as it creates an internal cavity that is neither welded nor joined, which determines the properties of the seamless product.A section of pipe is continuously drawn through a series of tightly controlled processes, being lengthened, flattened, and reduced to its final dimensions. For example, on a mandrel drawing machine or a lubricated drawing machine, the workpiece is drawn over an internal mandrel to maintain a uniform wall thickness and to produce a smooth, shiny external surface. After the heat treatment stage, the part is measured to ensure the outside diameter is within the required tolerance, then it is straightened to meet the specified straightness requirements. The final stage usually includes several finishing operations: cutting to the required length and inspecting for defects using ultrasonic or hydrostatic testing. Sometimes, the small, straight steel parts produced in the forging process undergo additional heat treatment to reduce internal stresses and achieve stability.
