| Property | Advantage |
| Exceptional Corrosion Resistance | Resists sulfuric, phosphoric, nitric, and organic acids; performs in oxidizing and reducing environments |
| Chloride Stress Corrosion Cracking Immunity | Virtually immune to chloride-induced SCC—a critical failure mode for standard stainless steels |
| Pitting & Crevice Corrosion Resistance | Molybdenum (2.5–3.5%) and copper (1.5–3.0%) content provide superior localized corrosion protection |
| High-Temperature Stability | Good mechanical properties up to 550°C; resists oxidation and carburization |
| Weldability | Excellent; can be welded by all conventional processes without preheat or post-weld heat treatment in most thicknesses |
| Pressure Vessel Qualified | Approved for ASME Section VIII construction up to 538°C |
825 Grade Chemical Composition and Technical Property is as below:
Standard | C % max | Si max | Mn max | P max | S max | tensile strength(MPa) | yield strength(MPa) | Elongation% |
825 | 0.05 | 0.5 | 1 | 0.03 | 0.02 | ≥586 | ≥241 | ≥30 |
Q: Can you laser cut 825 plate in the solution-annealed condition?
A: Yes. We laser cut 825 in the solution-annealed condition, which is the standard delivery state. The alloy's moderate strength in the annealed condition allows efficient cutting with good edge quality. Post-cut heat treatment is generally not required unless significant cold work or welding has been performed.
Q: What welding procedures do you use for 825 fabrication?
A: We typically use GTAW (TIG) or GMAW (MIG) with ERNiCrMo-3 (625 filler) or ERNiFeCr-1 (825 filler) consumables. No preheat is required for sections under 25mm. Interpass temperature is controlled below 150°C to avoid sensitization. Post-weld heat treatment is generally unnecessary for 825, unlike many stainless grades.
Q: Is 825 magnetic?
A: 825 is essentially non-magnetic in the solution-annealed condition. Minor magnetic response may develop in heavily cold-worked areas, but this is negligible for most applications. For applications requiring absolute non-magnetism (e.g., MRI equipment nearby), please specify so we can verify and control processing conditions.
